Copyright law to be updated in Singapore
On 15 Sep 2016, NTUC, MinLaw and IPOS held a briefing and public consultation for freelancers in the creative industries regarding recommended changes to the Copyright Act in Singapore.
Attendance of 30+ consisting of writers, videographers, web designers, producers with over 20 professional photographers rallied by PPAS.
The presentation was arranged to be more photographer centric due to the large number of photographers. The presentation was clear and easy to understand with good discussion about many issues brought up by attendees, such as the difficulties the creative industry has regarding securing copyright for our works, as well as certain legal issues faced when dealing with large corporations.
Feedback was encouraged. Many ideas were accepted for further review and consideration.
